Tanja North developed the Bay Composition Series while working outside as an environmental educator, first on a skipjack in Balitimore and now on the Chesapeak's remote Tangier Island. Subject matter for the comes from countless hours spent pdding, sailing, and reading. Although the forms depicted in the Bay Composition Series are entirely imaginary, the flow of water is specially meant to suggest "estuary."
